Marcia is a Seattle native with 25 years of broad experience in teaching, coaching youth sports and athletic training. She holds a B.A. and M. Ed in Special Education from the University of Washington where she worked in the national pilot program for children with Down’s Syndrome. She is a past Certified Personal Trainer with special certification in the areas of arthritis and sports medicine and human performance. Marcia has been a student of Bioethics for 2 1/2 years, focusing on the ethical considerations of performance enhancement drugs, neuro and reproductive technologies. Marcia served on the strategic planning committee for the establishment of the first Chair of Women’s Sports Medicine and Lifetime Fitness at the University of Washington and was the first Education Director of the Museum of Flight. She developed and directed the Speakers Bureau for the Seattle Goodwill Games. A constant political and community activist, passionate about kids and social justice issues, she currently serves on the Board of the Seattle Children’s Theatre and The Pike Place Market Foundation, and is a Founding Member and advisor of the Women's Bioethics Project.
